New vs pre-owned: how to compare on Priceory

The same designer bag can be listed new at one store and pre-owned at another. The prices are not like for like, so Priceory shows them in one list with a clear condition label on every offer.
The four condition groups
- New: the store says the item is New and the title does not indicate a refurbished or pre-owned item.
- Pre-owned or resale: the title says pre-owned, pre-loved, second-hand, vintage or used (but not phrases such as "never used"), or the condition field says used or pre-owned. Listings from Hewi, a pre-owned marketplace, are labelled "Pre-owned" unless the store says the item is New. When the store gives a condition grade (for example "Excellent"), it is shown next to the label.
- Refurbished: the title or condition field says refurbished. This takes priority over New.
- Condition not stated: no condition could be established. Many stores leave condition blank, so this is common. These listings are never counted as new.
Labels come from each listing's own title and condition field. The only store-level rule is Hewi's resale default.
How the comparison table shows them
When a product is sold by two or more stores, all offers appear in one list ordered by price, and each offer carries its own label (New, Pre-owned, Refurbished or Condition not stated). A short line above the list can show "New from …" and "Pre-owned from …": the smallest listed price in each condition, nothing more. Italist and Hewi are part of the same company, and the comparison says so when both appear. See How Priceory compares prices for the full rules.
What Priceory shows today
In bags, the stores differ in how much condition information they send. The "Store says New" column counts only listings where the store states the condition:

Before you buy pre-owned
- Read the listing's own condition notes and photos at the store. Priceory shows the store's text; we do not inspect items.
- Check who the seller is. On marketplaces, the return rules can depend on the seller (see Hewi's policy below).
- Compare like with like: size, colour, hardware and included items (dust bag, box, receipt) change the value of a pre-owned piece.
- Check the return window and who pays return shipping before you pay.
Before you buy new
- New prices from overseas boutiques may exclude import duties. Italist, for example, says customs duties are not refundable if you return an item (policy below).
- Confirm the size chart and the return conditions, such as tags attached and original packaging.
