How Priceory compares prices

Affiliate disclosure: we may earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It does not change the price you pay, and commissions never decide the order of prices or products. How Priceory makes money.

Priceory shows prices from selected online stores. This page explains, rule by rule, how those prices are compared. The site follows these rules automatically.

Where the prices come from

  • Prices are updated every day. The date in "As of" is when Priceory last checked that price, not necessarily when the store last changed it.
  • Prices stay in the store's own currency (for example US$ at Italist, £ at Hewi, CA$ at Nobis). If you pick a display currency, converted amounts are marked "≈" and are approximate. The store's price at checkout is final, and your bank's rate may differ.
  • If we can't check a price, we keep showing the last price we checked, with its date. Listings are hidden when the store says they are removed, sold or out of stock, or when the store does not deliver to your country.

When a comparison is shown

  • A side-by-side comparison appears only when at least two stores have a price for the same product.
  • Each price keeps its own "As of" date. If a store's price has not been updated, we keep showing the last price we checked, with that date, and the comparison stays. An offer leaves the comparison only when the store says the item is sold, removed or out of stock.
  • Products are matched using the product codes (such as barcodes) the stores provide, not by guessing from similar titles.

New and pre-owned in one list

  • New and pre-owned offers for the same product are shown in one list, ordered by price. Every offer has its own label: New, Pre-owned (with the store's condition grade when it gives one), Refurbished or Condition not stated. A pre-owned price is never presented as the price of a new item.
  • Above the list, a short line can say, for example, "New from US$2,606 · Pre-owned from £1,627". Each figure is simply the smallest listed price in that condition. We do not call any offer "the lowest" or "the best price".
  • An offer whose condition the store did not state is labelled "Condition not stated" and is never counted as new.
  • Different currencies are put in order only through an approximate, dated exchange rate. If no rate is available, the offers are listed in their own currencies without being put in price order.
  • Italist and Hewi are part of the same company. When both appear in a comparison, the comparison says so.

Shipping, duties and totals

  • When every offer has a shipping cost from the store's own data, the list is ordered by item price plus shipping and shows that total. Otherwise the list is ordered by item price, and shipping is confirmed at the store.
  • Taxes and import duties are not included in comparison totals. Confirm these charges at checkout.

What we never do

  • We never make up savings, "was" prices or discounts. A "Real price drop" needs either an original or compare-at price supplied by the store, or a recorded price decrease backed by prices from at least five different days spanning at least 14 days.
  • Commissions never change which offers are shown or their order. The order is by price only.
  • We do not test, review or rate products, and we never claim to have done so.
  • Priceory hides stores that don't deliver to your delivery country. Stores with no recorded restriction stay visible. Changing your delivery country in the menu updates this filter.

The table below is calculated live from the bags Priceory lists right now. It shows why comparing across currencies and conditions needs care: each store reports prices in its own currency, and only some stores state an item's condition.

Listing counts and price ranges by store, in each store’s own currency (not converted, not checkout totals), from the products Priceory lists. Sold and removed items are excluded. These figures are not filtered by your delivery country, so they can differ from the product cards. “Store says New” counts only listings where the store states the condition.
