How to

   Finish each source first

   Merge last, not first. Edit wording in True Edit, place a signature in Sign PDF, and fix a phone photo in Shot Ready before you combine. Merging unfinished files creates a packet you will have to split again.

   Set the reading order

   A merge is a reading experience. Cover or summary first. Then the main document. Then exhibits, statements, or photos. If two files could be swapped without anyone noticing, they probably should not both be in the packet.

   Merge once

   Run the merge and download one PDF. Open it. Jump to the first page of each original file inside the packet. Confirm no file was dropped, rotated wrongly, or duplicated. If the order is wrong, reorder and merge again rather than sending a confusing pack.

   Check size

   Several image-heavy PDFs become a heavy packet. If the result will not attach, compress Instant & Private next. Do not merge a second time as a way to shrink — merge does not remove weight.

   Name the packet for the recipient

   Use a filename the other person can understand: matter, date, “packet”. Keep the sources. A merge is a delivery format, not the only copy of the originals.

What merge is not

Merge does not rewrite text, does not place a signature, and does not make photos submission-ready. It concatenates PDFs you already trust. If a page is wrong, fix that source, then merge again.

Merge is also not a way to hide a file inside another file. Anyone who opens the packet sees every page. If a page must not be in the packet, leave it out.

Packets people actually send

Tips

• Put landscape pages and portrait pages in an order the reader can tolerate; a sudden rotate in the middle of a form feels like a broken file.
• If one source is still a phone photo PDF, run Shot Ready on that source first so the packet does not contain a crooked page.
• After merge, search the packet for a unique word from each source to prove every file is inside.
• Free 5/24h counts a finished merge as a completion.

When the tool says no

• A file the tool cannot open is skipped or refused rather than silently omitted without a message. Read the refuse state. Do not send a packet that is missing a source you thought was in it.
• Password-locked sources that cannot be read will not merge until they can be opened.
